Ilka Walljes
Ilka Walljes is an urban planner with a focus on climate-friendly and sustainable urban transformation and works internationally in research, practice and as a consultant. Highlights to date include setting up a department for sustainability and climate protection (at Hyder Consulting/UK), leading a study on climate-neutral reuse of urban stock (published in "European Environment") and expert reports on barriers to climate protection and adaptation. She has received awards from the Royal Town Planning Institute for her research. Her credo of developing cities in a greenhouse gas-neutral way using renewable resources culminated in her book "Klimagerechte und nachhaltige Stadtentwicklung - Leitfaden für einen optimierten Transformationsprozess".
